PALM Foundation is a Sri Lankan non-governmental organization which adopts a locally led, participatory, holistic development approach by implementing a wide range of community development programs to marginalized communities regardless of religion, gender, caste or ethnicity. We have been working in the development sector in since 1987, first in the central province, later expanding to the north & east. Collaborating with local and international partner organizations by implementing different types of community development programs to marginalized and affected communities.

Project District Coordinator

Location: Vavuniya
Age: 35 – 45

Responsible for overall coordination and successful implementation of project activities for the project; Strengthening the Resilience of Smallholder Farmers in the Dry Zone to Climate Variability and Extreme Events through an Integrated Approach to Water Management.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Degree in Social Sciences or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in relevant projects.
  • Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) / development work or other large, complex development projects, especially those in multi-ethnic societies.
  • Working knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures with project management, process development, and execution.
  • Demonstrated project and personnel management skills.
  • Ability to influence, motivate, and collaborate with others.
  • Ability to adapt and resolve problems/issues to bring project to completion.
  • Ability to exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies to select methods and techniques to obtain results.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize work to deliver results and focus on impact and results.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with extended knowledge of MS Word.
  • Fluency in Tamil, English and Sinhala required.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Degree in Social Sciences or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience.
  • Experience in project management, planning, budgeting, training and capacity building,
  • Organizational skills, including an ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with very good knowledge of MS Word.
  • Fluency in Tamil, English and Sinhala required.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Degree in Social Sciences or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience in relevant activities.
  • Excellent Training Skill
  • Gender mainstreaming of the Project
  • Fluency in Tamil and English required.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office.

Community Facilitator (5 positions)

Location: Vavuniya or Batticaloa
Age: 25 – 40

The Community Facilitators will be responsible for the effective functioning of the project’s implementation plans in conjunction with the Project Manager. He or she will take a lead role in the community mobilization, capacity building of the stakeholders of the project and play a lead role in monitoring the various activities of the project.

Qualifications

  • Passed A/L.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in community development.
  • Fluency in Tamil, good knowledge in English.
  • Knowledge of MS Office.

As a Support Volunteer you help build capacity and support the long-term goals of PALM Foundation. Gaining (International) work experience at a NGO which works with international partners. You share and develop your own skills and experience, help us further and reach our impact even more, work in an ethnically diverse team and have the opportunity to visit various projects we are engaging in.
